Story

Ray Wylie Hubbard wrote a song about some of his favorite musicians in Austin, On his CD called "Growl," he had us all play & sing on the track. As soon as he mentions each name, that person starts singing with him, then plays the next solo. By the end we're all going nuts. So this is me singing and playing the fiddle.

Enjoy the video!

Darcie's guest role  - Twin Fiddles

Stylistically, this song would be labeled "Americana Music." This one is a little more countrified.

Rockabilly (fiddle)

This song seriously puts the "rock" in rockabilly. I've heard this recording has given people eargasms. Turn it up and listen to this music the way it was meant to be heard...Loud enough so the drums heal your heart and the solos sear. And DANCE!

Octoblaster & Fiddle  (Americana)

Bruce's Website

When listening to this, you might wonder what the instrument is that grows along with the intensity of the song. It sounds similar to an electric guitar, but in fact, it's my Octoblaster. An eight-stringed electric octave mandolin made for me by Dick Dubois, this one of a kind instrument has many voices. An octave mandolin is one octave lower than a regular mandolin, larger, longer, and one octave lower. I'll be posting photos of it, and giving you more information as I continue building the site. You'll see it along with the other instruments, I've got some cool ones!

Bruce Jones (now a fellow member of our band The Austin Lounge Lizards) writes great song after song, often funny, some with a hint (or more) of sarcasm. All have a message worth thinking about. Bruce is amazingly talented. Buy his music!

Story

Fiddles in Open Tunings

I had the fortune and honor to play with Walter Hyatt from "Uncle Walt's Band," (in fact I've played with all three of them in a reunion of theirs, in the early '90's when that was possible). Ann Armstrong is another honoree. Ann & I spent quality road time, and when she asked me to play on her CD "Lucky Charm," I was delighted.

Fiddle

I played the fiddle on this and three other songs on Mary's CD "Filth and Fire." Produced by Gurf Morelix, this was a fun project for all, and I believe her break out CD.

Lead Vocal & "Cajun R&R" Fiddle

The Lizards have released a new CD called "Home and Deranged." "Who Needs You" is a song of mine I recorded on my CD "Tornado in Slo Mo." (Terri Hendrix also recorded a version of the song). I'll post one or two of the other songs here, and please go over to the Lizards' web site to listen or  buy the CD.

Mandolin - (ryhthm & slide), vocal effects

I chose to play the mandolin a little differently than usual on this track. Not only are there several mandolin rhythm tracks, the slide mandolin solo is...well...in keeping with the sentiment of the song -which, by the way, was co-written by six people. There are a few crazy voices at the end. If anyone needs a good scream for their soundtrack, I'm your woman!

"Fiddle Orchestra"

Another from "Filth & Fire."  What I'm calling my "fiddle orchestra" comes in later in the song, maybe halfway through.
