Darcie Deaville: FAQ'S

Can you explain what you sound like to people who don't play music?

Can you explain what you sound like to people who don't play music?

For years, there was no label for the kind of music I play. Now, it's called "Americana" or "American Roots Music." It's a combination of folk, rock and roll, blues, bluegrass, Cajun, old time, and country.

I can and do play each of these styles individually, in their pure form. When I do a solo show, it's a mixture. If I'm in a play, I'll be playing the music the way it sounded for that period. If I am hired to play with a country band, you bet I'm going to play "Faded Love" the way it should sound, not some avant-garde version.

My overall style is most influenced by the high, lonesome sound of the Appalachian Mountains.
