     MUSIC WORKSHOPS AND LESSONS

  •  Fiddle

Explore alternate tunings, country, swing, old time, bluegrass, Cajun, blues, rock & roll- (which includes pickups, effect pedals, amps, etc.) soloing and backup.

  • Mandolin

In and out of the box chord patterns, and an overview of the mandolin's role in a band. There are many ways you can add texture or color to an arrangement. Playing fiddle tunes, working out solos and improvising are part of this.

  • Guitar

Beginner, intermediate, flatpicking and fingerpicking. We’ll use the same approach as in the mandolin comments above.

  • Beginning piano

  • Singing lead and harmony

  • How to play in a band, how to be asked back to your favorite sessions-

Anyone who plays guitar, fiddle, mandolin, bass, percussion, piano (bring your own keyboard), or sings... and any other instrument I haven't mentioned - is welcome. Nobody will be left out! I lead this workshop with tips on leading/fronting a band, and the dos and don'ts of back up. Wondering what singers expect from each member of the band? When is less more? What are the important things to be paying attention to?

  • Improvisation on any instrument

  • Want to play violin, viola, cello, or upright bass, but don't know how to start?

Do you have one but can’t get started? Do you want to buy or rent one? I’ll help you learn about tuning, rosining, bowing and soundinggood on these fascinating unfretted instruments!

  • Playing with your family

We’ll work through the best and the worst parts of playing with people you know all too well.  I'll help you get good results.

ONLINE MUSIC LESSONS WITH VIDEO - October 15, 2009

I've started online music lessons and coaching. Guitar, fiddle, mandolin, singing, songwriting, and jamming/improvisation. Beginner piano, viola, and cello are also available. We'll use Skype, which is a safe, secure, free download. Skype to Skype calls are FREE. You only pay for my time. You will get a free consultation call to see if this is something that will work for you. You don't need a camera on your end, (I have one so you will be able to see me). If you DO  have a built in camera on your computer, that's even better!

$25 for 1/2 hour
