Plays The Fiddle And Sings New!
|
|
Darcie Deaville Plays the Fiddle and Sings is the
overdue response to the request from Darcie's fans to record some
traditional songs. In her own exuberant style, Darcie sings and plays
the fiddle at the same time, and some of these cuts are simply that.
Others have a fuller sound, Darcie backing herself on guitar, mandolin,
octave mandolin, and vocal harmonies. Engineer Marvin Dykhuis guests on
percussion and guitar on several cuts, but almost everything you hear
on this recording is Darcie. Produced by Darcie, Plays the Fiddle
and Sings is the companion to her book on learning to play the
fiddle,
The Twinkle Principle, due to be published in fall 2004.

Tornado In Slo Mo
|
|
An inspired collection of songs from one of Austin's
finest writers and most exciting singer-instrumentalists.
Tornado In Slo Mo is a survivor's narrative and
its songs resonate with hard-won hope and resilience.
This CD has also gotten good reviews, and also has had a
story and interview
published about it which gives a great deal of background about how the
songs came to be written.

"Jane Gillman's and Darcie Deaville's voices mingle so purely you'd think
they were sisters . . . songs reflect the duo's outstanding musicianship
on a variety of instruments, some marvelous harmonies and a well-tempered
skill for writing compact stories set to appealing melodies. . . ." --Gavin
". . . one of those rare albums that set a very traditional genre into a
wholly fresh context." --Riverfront Times
